Scutellaria serrata is a virtually unknown native skullcap for the woodland garden. Native from New York south to Georgia, the 18" tall x 18" wide deciduous clump emerges in spring, and is topped, starting for us in early May, with short, upright spikes of lavender blue flowers. We find Scutellaria serrata a superb addition to the woodland garden for providing color after most spring ephemerals have faded. As a pollinator plant, the flowers are favored by native bees.
